Ecological Survey Work
I work as a freelance ecological surveyor specialising in mammal surveys, particularly European Protected Species (EPS). Mammal EPS in Scotland include bats, Eurasian Otter Lutra lutra and Wildcat Felis silvestris. I also carry out surveys of Pine Marten Martes martes, Eurasian Badger Meles meles, Red Squirrel Sciurus vulgaris and Water Vole Arvicola amphibius. I will provide a full survey report, suitable for assessment by your local Planning Authority, Scottish Natural Heritage (SNH) or Forestry Commission Scotland. I can also prepare licence applications for Scottish Government and mitigation advice if required.
As a member (Affiliate) of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM), all my work is carried out to industry standards, and I practice under their Code of Professional Conduct. I also have full Professional Indemnity Insurance (PII). I hold a Bat Worker's Licence with hibernacula endorsement and an otter licence (with provision to use camera traps), am fully vaccinated against rabies (EBLs), and am also a registered Bat Carer with the Bat Conservation Trust (BCT). I am happy to provide a CV on request.
